Rubbish Maths!!!

Rubbish Maths!!!
After I found so much rubbish around the school, then Whaea Georgia took my slides to put them in the 10 o'clock news. Then she made a question about me and the rubbish for the whole class to think about. The question was "If Aniket picks up 7 pieces of rubbish every school day for two weeks, how much rubbish will he collect altogether?" Here is some of the ways we worked out the answer.
Pippa took a photo of me and Ahmed with all the rubbish we picked up.
We used the thinking toolkit to think creatively to achieve the school goal to look after our environment

Cartoon writing

In cartoons they draw some pictures and write some words to tell the story. They leave some clues to understand the story. Our class is using these cartoons to get ideas for own cartoons.

Maybe you could try making your own cartoons too!

Our class is making quicksand. This is how you can  make quicksand. First you need some water and some cornflower. Then you need to add some more  cornflower. When you add more cornflower the quicksand got harder  then they add more water too.

Reading difficult numbers

How I learnt to read difficult numbers!

I have been doing this  maths goal that is called reading whole numbers up to 1,000,000. Every day I wrote a number in my maths book and I practiced reading that number. I used the flipchart as well, with my goal. Here is an example:
I taught two people.

The flipchart was a thinking tool that helped me read big numbers because it had names about what each place is. You need to know that there are some names that you don't have to say when you say the whole number.
Have you been using a thinking tool in your learning?
